Job Summary
Senior Estimator Heavy Highway/DOT (Metro Atlanta GA)
Lead bid estimating for mid- to large-scale heavy highway and DOT projects from takeoffs through full bid submission. Deliver accurate competitive estimates while managing project scope schedules costs and risk.

What Youll Do
- Lead estimating for mid- to large-scale DOT/highway projects: roads bridges earthwork concrete flatwork structures and utilities
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis using HCSS HeavyBid Bluebeam and scheduling software
- Collaborate with project managers engineers and chief estimator to define full project scope and requirements
- Prepare complete accurate bid packages including phased schedules and risk-adjusted cost projections
- Analyze historical data market trends and subcontractor/vendor pricing to optimize competitiveness
- Mentor junior estimators and coordinating staff fostering a collaborative high-performing team
- Support preconstruction planning with production input and constructability review
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations industry standards and best practices
What Were Looking For
- 710 years estimating experience in heavy highway construction
- Proven experience leading mid- to large-scale DOT project bids
- DOT experience required; GDOT experience preferred
- Hands-on with takeoffs cost analysis and comprehensive bid preparation
- Strong command of HCSS HeavyBid Bluebeam and project scheduling software
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles construction methods and DOT project requirements
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously with precision and accuracy
- Leadership and mentoring experience with junior estimators and support staff
- Detail-oriented highly organized and accountable
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or equivalent experience preferred
