The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.
Description of Work
The HVAC Mechanic position troubleshoots calibrates repairs and maintains and operates the DDC BAS (Direct Digital Control - Building Automation System) as well as components and sub-systems of an overall HVAC system including electric/electronics speed controllers pneumatic sensors electric/pneumatic valves motors humidistats pumps chillers condensers air handling units and miscellaneous control elements.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:
% Provide preventive maintenance on a wide variety of HVAC systems including window units split systems heat pumps and large-scale industrial chillers including units and associated control systems. Work includes preventive maintenance on centrifugal chillers descaling chiller tubes.10% Operates DDC automation systems that control the heating and cooling of large office buildings and diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using DCC readings.10% Removes old HVAC equipment and installs new units including equipment duct work controls and condensate drainage.10% Diagnoses and repairs a wide variety of HVAC systems including window units split systems heat pumps.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressive experience in the installation maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers air handling chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations part 82 subpart F.EEO Statement
