Job Summary

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented individual to provide highquality research and administrative support within our Corporate Governance and Risk this casual role (up to 35 hours per week) you will contribute to important activities across access to information applications internal privacy reviews insurance claim coordination policy development and the maintenance of public disclosure registers. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to core governance functions while supporting a team committed to integrity transparency and service excellence.

Key accountabilities are but not limited to:

  • Support the processing of GIPA applications including research and administration tasks that help ensure timely access to information and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Assist in interpreting and applying key legislation including privacy local government and access to information laws with guidance from the team.
  • Help coordinate Councils statutory reporting ensuring information provided to oversight bodies is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive matters with professionalism maintaining trust and integrity in all interactions.
  • Maintain and update governance registers and records including the GIPA Disclosure Log and internal systems ensuring accuracy and currency.
  • Respond to enquiries from staff and the public providing helpful timely and customerfocused support in line with Council policies.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in governance processes supporting the implementation and enhancement of the Corporate Governance Framework.

About You

  • A background or interest in law or governance. You may be studying a legal qualification recently graduated or have relevant experience in a related field.
  • The ability to understand and apply legislation including interpreting requirements under key Acts such as the GIPA Act or Local Government Act.
  • Strong problemsolving and criticalthinking skills with the confidence to use good judgement when working through complex issues.
  • Excellent organisational and timemanagement abilities with the capacity to manage competing deadlines and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
  • Well developed research and writing skills with the ability to prepare clear correspondence reports and other documentation.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage respectfully with customers.
