We are looking for a Lead Design Engineer to take ownership of the mechanical design function for our industrial heat pump and compressor systems. This role combines hands-on system design with team coordination and process leadership. You will guide a growing team of three designers while remaining technically involved in the development of large-scale industrial systems.
The position is based in Overath with a hybrid working model requiring regular on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Design of industrial heat pump systems using Autodesk Inventor.
Optimization of designs for manufacturability and increasing production volumes.
Design and calculations in accordance with the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
Performing FEM calculations.
Supporting piston compressor design activities.
Creation of parts lists for production and administration within the ERP system.
Organizing and improving design processes procedures and systems.
Technical leadership and coordination of a team of three designers.
Acting as key technical contact for US stakeholders.
Close collaboration with production (German-speaking environment).
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field.
Minimum 5 years of technical experience ideally 710 years in system design.
Strong experience in designing large complete industrial systems.
Very good knowledge of Inventor and AutoCAD.
Experience with European Pressure Directive (PED) requirements.
Experience with FEM analysis.
Very good German language skills (C1) and strong English skills (at least B2).
Preferred Qualification and Experience:
Experience with pressure-bearing systems piping and frame structures is advantageous.
Past experience working in a large organization.
