Job Summary

Tomlinson Group of Companies is currently seeking a detail-oriented Surveyor to join our Tomlinson Infrastructure team. The Surveyor will be responsible for conducting land surveys analyzing data and collaborating with the team to ensure the precision and success of construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background including experience with surveying equipment such as data collectors lasers total stations and scanners. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with field crews excellent attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work are essential.

Location:Ottawa ON

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform jobsite calibrations.
  • Utilize survey equipment to perform data collection and field layout for structures roadways services and other features on the construction site.
  • Maintain accurate records of all surveying activities including measurements calculations layouts and as-builts.
  • Work closely with other teams including engineers and construction professionals to ensure that all survey requirements are met.
  • Ensure that all surveying activities are conducted safely and that all safety protocols are followed on construction sites.
  • Ensure that all surveying activities comply with relevant laws regulations and building codes.
  • Perform quality control checks on tasks assigned ensuring that layout is always accurate according to engineering proposed designs.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.

Working Conditions:

  • Working mostly outdoors in various weather conditions including inclement weather.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Working within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional out-of-town work may be required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying.
  • A degree or diploma in surveying geomatics civil engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of surveying equipment including GPS rovers and data collectors total stations laser.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings plans and blueprints.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Trimble Business Center is considered an asset.
  • Valid G-class drivers license.

Compensation Information:

  • The expected salary range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00 per hour. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
