Job Summary

Intern II - Women in Science - Zoology Amphibians (Undergraduate)

This undergraduate research internship focuses on the trophic ecology of amphibians in the Chicagoland region with an emphasis on diet composition and ecological roles in urban and peri-urban environments. The intern will assist with organizing and processing amphibian specimens and associated ecological data summarizing diet information and entering data into project spreadsheets and databases. Additional activities may include assisting with basic literature review and data organization related to amphibian feeding ecology.

No prior research or museum experience is required as training will be provided. Applicants must be current undergraduate students preferably majoring in Biology Ecology Environmental Science or a related field. The position requires attention to detail basic computer skills (including spreadsheets and file management) interest in ecology or biodiversity and willingness to follow standardized research and collections protocols. Comfort working with biological specimens is expected with appropriate supervision and training provided.

Depending on the interns level of engagement and project outcomes this work may lead to meaningful contributions to scientific presentations or peer-reviewed publications providing valuable experience in ecological research collaboration and science communication.

If selected interns will be expected to attend an on-site HR orientation on June 22 2026 and the internship will continue through Jul 31 2026. The salary is $17.75/hour for 35 hours a week. Candidates will be selected through email communication and virtual interviews conducted via Zoom. This internship is intended for female and non-binary identifying students.
