Overview
As a part-time instructor you will provide instruction within our Automotive Technician program. Courses will be taught in the Blackboard learning management system platform in a lab environment to meet the needs of this growing industry. Instructors need to lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction for assigned classes.
- Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
- Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
- Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
- Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
- Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
- Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
- Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
- Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
- Hold weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student employer and college needs.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Automotive Diesel Transportation or related field. (or Degree Plan to achieve Associate Degree within 3 years of hire.)
- Two years (4000 hours) of occupational experience in an automotive service technician or related position of which at least one year (2000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of hire. One year (2000 hours) of recent related experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years of the date of hire.
- Current ASE certification desired.
