Job Summary

Seattle Childrens has multiple summer internship openings across a variety of non-clinical departments. Internships will be offered in a hybrid work format and will occur over a period of up to 10 weeks beginning in June and ending in August. Interns will work up to 40 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to engage in an inclusive hands-on learning environment grow their skills and gain exposure to a diverse range of career areas at Seattle Childrens. As part of this experience interns will learn to work collaboratively as part of a team take on substantive projects under the guidance of experienced mentors cultivate professional networks with peers and leaders and participate in a range of career development activities. At the conclusion of the internship all students will prepare a final project for presentation at a formal convening attended by Seattle Childrens staff and leaders.

Job Summary

This position is temporary and/or intermittent in nature. Length of service exceeds 100 hours. This will be a hybrid work experience requiring an in-person presence approximately 2-3 days per week. This position is initially set for a10-weekduration with the possibility of extending through September 2026.

Engagement and Retention seeks an intern to assist across various project areas to support Workforce Appreciation and Engagement programming while gaining a foundational understanding of Seattle Childrens mission and commitment to workforce experience. The intern will learn about internal and external partnerships and develop technical skills including project/program management stakeholder engagement internal communication strategies and event planning. The Engagement and Retention team is dedicated to supporting Childrens efforts to create a values-based culture by design creating strategies implementing and aligning initiatives that enhance workforce engagement and promote long-term retention. We work closely with leaders and workforce members across Seattle Childrens to create meaningful opportunities for recognition and engagement improve workforce experience and implement solutions that center belonging values and wellbeing.

Engagement and Retention supports workforce experience through a range of services to workforce members including consulting ongoing recognition initiatives and awards new hire support workforce feedback through surveys and rounding and programming geared at increasing connection and belonging throughout the organization. The Engagement and Retention team leads organizational action planning for workforce experience surveys to support integration of workforce feedback in daily operations and quality improvement efforts.

An ideal candidate brings dedication creativity and a passion for using data to drive improvements to experience. This role will provide meaningful exposure and skill development for those interested in exploring a potential career in healthcare administration or workforce experience and program/project management within the context of a large healthcare organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff managers and executive leaders

  • Exercise discretion when processing and navigating confidential or sensitive information

  • Able to effectively problem-solve and handle moderately to highly complex problems/issues in standard or emergent situations and to be innovative and creative

  • Able to effectively collaborate in an agile environment with regular interruptions and changes of priority

  • Able to remain highly organized work independently and prioritize work from multiple sources; and effectively participate as a team member

  • Experience with video or social media content creation

Additional Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Under team guidance engage with Engagement & Retention and Workforce Community & Connections and other stakeholders to develop reports and presentations and provide program and project management support.

  • Provide program and project management support including process improvement data collection and analysis on topics such as increasing a culture of recognition and appreciation.

  • Support planning and other logistics for key events related to Juneteenth Workforce Appreciation and Celebrations of Service

  • Participate in rounding at main campus and select regional sites to learn about workforce experience in clinical settings.

  • Support development of key newsletters internal website for workforce members calendar of events and recognition communications content for workforce members.

  • Prepare a final project for presentation at the end of the internship period.

  • With manager support develop internship learning goals and establish regular check-ins to discuss progress and identify learning opportunities.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Recent graduate from a local college or technical school

  • Strong desire to engage with Seattle Childrens workforce in support of their service to patients families and the community

  • Strong desire to participate in mission-driven work

  • Medium to large event organizing and volunteer experience

Compensation

$23.00 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
