Job Summary

CAIR San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a relationship-driven and mission-aligned candidate for the role of Community Engagement Manager. This position is central to CAIR-SFBAs advocacy and outreach efforts and plays a key role in building meaningful relationships across the Bay Area Muslim community. The ideal candidate will bring experience in grassroots outreach volunteer engagement and community partnership-building and will be energized by working in a fast-paced justice-oriented nonprofit environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about civil rights racial justice and community power-building to support and grow CAIR-SFBAs engagement infrastructure.
Title: Community Engagement Manager
Location: Based in CAIRs Santa Clara office. CAIR staff currently work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office and up to two days of remote work. Additional in-person attendance will often be required based on community and outreach needs.
Schedule Type: Full-time. Exempt. Frequent evenings and weekends required.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Executive Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Community Outreach & Relationship Building
  • Build develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse segments of the Bay Area Muslim community including imams halaqa leaders MSA leaders activists and community organizers
  • Spend approximately 50% of work time engaging in community spaces where Muslims gather such as mosques Islamic centers community events and student spaces
  • Serve as a liaison between CAIR-SFBA and community leaders to promote awareness and utilization of CAIR-SFBA programs services and campaigns through ongoing one-on-one and group engagement
  • Represent CAIR-SFBA at partner and ally organization meetings events and activities as needed
Volunteer & Canvasser Coordination
  • Recruit train schedule and supervise Community Canvassers particularly for civic engagement and integrated voter engagement efforts
  • Lead and support community-building efforts among volunteers canvassers and staff
Program Support & Event Engagement
  • Market promote and support CAIR-SFBA outreach activities programs and events through tabling flyering and in-person and virtual engagement
  • Assist with strategy promotion planning and implementation of programs across departments including legal education workshops advocacy initiatives fundraising events and community forums
  • Support ally organizations events and actions as part of broader coalition-building and movement work
Internal Collaboration & Operations
  • Coordinate with staff across departments to identify community needs and tailor outreach strategies accordingly
  • Maintain replenish and distribute outreach marketing and educational materials

Other duties as assigned dependent on organizational needs and employee skills. All CAIR staff are required to assist in general duties such as answering phones weekly outreach and other office tasks.

Required Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with and experience working within the American Muslim community
  • A minimum of three years of non-profit campaign or community organizing experience focused on building power in communities via multiple strategies including at minimum of one year of experience managing staff and/or volunteers
  • Experience in community engagement outreach organizing education or direct service in a nonprofit faith-based or advocacy setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated cultural sensitivity compassion and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with diverse audiences in person by phone and on virtual platforms
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office Adobe Acrobat and digital communication and social media platforms
  • Deep commitment to CAIR-SFBAs mission values and social justice work
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly evolving mission-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties
  • Experience working with under-resourced or marginalized communities
  • Conversational proficiency in Arabic Dari Farsi Somali or Urdu
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation in the range of $.68
