Title: Community Engagement Manager
Location: Based in CAIRs Santa Clara office. CAIR staff currently work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office and up to two days of remote work. Additional in-person attendance will often be required based on community and outreach needs.
Schedule Type: Full-time. Exempt. Frequent evenings and weekends required.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Executive Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Community Outreach & Relationship Building
Volunteer & Canvasser Coordination
- Recruit train schedule and supervise Community Canvassers particularly for civic engagement and integrated voter engagement efforts
- Lead and support community-building efforts among volunteers canvassers and staff
Program Support & Event Engagement
- Market promote and support CAIR-SFBA outreach activities programs and events through tabling flyering and in-person and virtual engagement
- Assist with strategy promotion planning and implementation of programs across departments including legal education workshops advocacy initiatives fundraising events and community forums
- Support ally organizations events and actions as part of broader coalition-building and movement work
Internal Collaboration & Operations
- Coordinate with staff across departments to identify community needs and tailor outreach strategies accordingly
- Maintain replenish and distribute outreach marketing and educational materials
Other duties as assigned dependent on organizational needs and employee skills. All CAIR staff are required to assist in general duties such as answering phones weekly outreach and other office tasks.
Required Qualifications:
Familiarity with and experience working within the American Muslim community
A minimum of three years of non-profit campaign or community organizing experience focused on building power in communities via multiple strategies including at minimum of one year of experience managing staff and/or volunteers
- Experience in community engagement outreach organizing education or direct service in a nonprofit faith-based or advocacy setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated cultural sensitivity compassion and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with diverse audiences in person by phone and on virtual platforms
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
- Comfort using Microsoft Office Adobe Acrobat and digital communication and social media platforms
- Deep commitment to CAIR-SFBAs mission values and social justice work
- Flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly evolving mission-driven environment
