Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Hospital Medicine Unit Lead to join our hospitalist team. This physician leadership role focuses on improving inpatient care delivery hospital throughput patient safety and the overall patient experience.
The Unit Lead works closely with nursing leadership case management and hospital medicine colleagues to support operational efficiency care coordination and quality improvement across the unit.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitalist interested in developing leadership skills while maintaining an active clinical role.

Clinical Leadership
Provide physician leadership for the assigned inpatient unit.
Collaborate with nursing leadership case management and multidisciplinary teams to support safe high-quality patient care.
Lead daily clinical huddles and progression rounds to improve communication and coordination of care.
Support efficient patient throughput and transitions of care.
Provider Engagement & Mentorship
Serve as a clinical resource for hospitalists and advanced practice providers.
Mentor new and junior providers and support onboarding.
Assist with complex clinical scenarios including prolonged length-of-stay cases patient concerns and care coordination challenges.
Quality Improvement & Patient Safety
Help drive unit-based quality initiatives related to:
Length of stay
Readmission reduction
Early discharge planning
Patient experience
Reduction of hospital-acquired conditions
Reinforce evidence-based clinical practice and best care standards.
Participate in quality monitoring case reviews and improvement initiatives.
Operational Excellence
Support efficient utilization of hospital resources and care delivery processes.
Identify and escalate barriers impacting patient care discharge planning or clinical workflow.
Work with hospital leadership to implement clinical and operational improvements.
Additional Leadership Responsibilities
Participate in hospital medicine leadership meetings and unit triad discussions.
Support hospital initiatives related to clinical workflow quality and patient experience.
Contribute to departmental committees and improvement projects.
