Position Overview

The primary function of all student parking ambassadors is to patrol the various parking lots on campus to enforce parking regulations. This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) position which will require physical and manual labor such as moving equipment event setup and tear down working outside on grounds in various weather and helping with preventative maintenance.

Hours per Week

  • Up to 25 hours per week maximum during fall and spring semesters.
  • Scheduled during enforcement hours (Monday-Thursday 8am-9pm; Friday 8am-5pm; and occasional weekends).

College/Department Overview

Transportation & Parking Services provides the UCO community with a safe environment and access to campus facilities by efficiently and cost-effectively managing all available transportation and parking resources in support of the universitys mission.

Department Specific Job Functions

  • Patrol campus parking lots to uphold and enforce UCOs parking rules and regulations.
  • Observe permitted lots pay lots and reserved spaces to identify rule infractions/safety violations and issue citations as necessary.
  • Receive and validate hits sent out from the LPR (License Plate Recognition) vehicles and issue citations as necessary.
  • Monitor and report parking lot occupancy.
  • Answer customer questions and provide general parking information.
  • When needed perform minor maintenance tasks and light administrative duties.
  • Work special events such as graduation athletic events and other events as required.
  • In times of need help other areas in Campus Enterprises as directed.

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact for more information.

FWSP Requirements

In order to be considered for theFederal Work Study Program (FWSP) you must be awarded work study through theOffice of Financial Aid & Scholarships and you must accept your FWSP award in UConnect. Please be aware the summer FWSP award is a separate application process and not included in the FWSP award for fall/spring.

Enrollment requirements for FWSP employment are the same each semester. Undergraduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and Graduates must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours. If a student is enrolled in their final semester and the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of remaining credit hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date) and provide the letter to the hiring department for submission to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Must have an active valid drivers license.
  • Ability to work outside on foot in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work various hours including evenings.
  • Ability to work various events including some holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to explain and enforce parking rules and regulations.
  • Ability to report suspicious activity and safety infractions to supervisor.
  • Ability to operate enforcement equipment (tablets radios printers etc.).
  • Must be responsible detail-oriented punctual and flexible.
  • Must have good communication skills.

  • Must be able to tolerate working outside walking long distances in all types of weather.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with customers.
