The American Heart Associations Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit voluntary health organization.


The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. Internship Overview:

Internship Overview
Time Commitment: 25 hours per week
Internship Duration: 5/18/26-8/21/26
Location: Remote Position
Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

  • Developsproject coordinationskills by supporting recurring program activities maintaining trackers and shared files and helping move American Heart Association Scholar initiatives from planning through followup.
  • Buildsmeeting and event logisticsexperience through preparing agendas and materials assisting with scheduling and basic logistics for virtual/inperson sessions and capturing notes action items and next steps for the American Heart Association Scholars program.
  • Strengthensstakeholder communicationby drafting clear emails and presentations summarizing research findings and collaborating with internal teams (e.g. Health Literacy Marketing/Communications) on outreach and program materials.
  • Gainsadministrative and documentationskills by organizing digital files supporting simple invoice/contract routing as appropriate and contributing to program reports and slide decks that document progress toward goals for the American Heart Association scholars program.



Qualifications

Seniors or graduate students majoring in health promotion public health content marketing general marketing and/or communications preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required including professional interaction with colleagues.
Ability to collaborate professionally in a corporate and non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects from inception through completion.
Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and Canva.
Required Equipment: Reliable Wi-Fi connection
Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk M-F between the hours of 9am-5pm.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future. For any roles working remotely the work must also be performed inside the United States not in a foreign country.
