Job Summary

As an Engineer II - Industrial at Vermeer you will independently apply engineering principles and lean methodologies to design optimize and improve manufacturing processes. You will conduct structured analysis develop layouts and implement process changes that enhance safety quality cost and throughput. This role expands on foundational experience by increasing ownership in problemsolving documentation and continuous improvement while partnering closely with operations engineering and quality teams to sustain highperforming production systems.

What Youll Do

1. Develop and analyze value stream maps that identify waste and highlight opportunities for improvement recommending futurestate concepts that strengthen flow reduce variation and support key performance outcomes.

2. Design and update workstation line and facility layouts using ComputerAided Design (CAD) tools such as AutoCAD DraftSight or SOLIDWORKS applying principles of ergonomics materialflow optimization takttime balance (production rate based on customer demand) and efficient space utilization.

3. Facilitate Continuous Improvement (CI) activities including 5S (Sort Set in Order Shine Standardize Sustain) Kaizen events and structured rootcause analysis to enhance efficiency safety and process stability.

4. Create revise and sustain manufacturing documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Standard Operating Sequence (SOS) and Digital Instructions (DI) to ensure accuracy clarity and alignment with production changes.

5. Conduct time studies linebalance modeling cycletime evaluations and capacity assessments to support labor planning throughput optimization and datadriven decisionmaking.

6. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering quality logistics and operations partners to validate process changes through trials feedback loops and performance metrics.

7. Execute updates to Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) by coordinating layout modifications documentation changes operator instructions and implementation activities across affected teams.

What Were Looking For

- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or related field with a minimum two (2) years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrated experience applying lean manufacturing principles CI tools and structured problemsolving methodologies.

- Proficiency using CAD tools (AutoCAD DraftSight SOLIDWORKS) for layout design workflow visualization and process planning.

- Experience conducting time studies cycletime decomposition workflow assessments and rootcause analysis.

- Strong analytical capability with familiarity in takttime analysis capacity calculations and line balancing.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering operations and supporting teams.

- Ability to manage multiple improvement initiatives simultaneously and deliver datasupported recommendations that advance operational performance.

Travel:

- Occasional travel may be expected.

Work Location

ONSITE: A team members day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
