Job Summary

Astronics-PECO located in picturesque Clackamas Oregon near the foothills of Mt. Hood designs certifies manufactures and sells a wide range of products to commercial government and military markets throughout the world. Our highly engineered interior and structural aerospace products are supplied to the largest aircraft manufacturers and are installed in aircraft around the globe and our military products are used in critical national defense applications. The Max-Viz enhanced visions systems (EVS) are designed and certified for use as an improvement to safety by a vast array of airplanes helicopters and unmanned-aerial-vehicles in the commercial government and military marketplace. PECO-Controls are well established temperature control devices designed for applications where high quality is a must such as the hospitality industry commercial cooking and other critical applications.

As a Manufacturing Engineer with our team you will play a crucial role in optimizing our machining operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards improving process efficiency and driving innovation within the machining have multiple work cells that include plastic injection molding CNC screw machines as well as high pressure die casting for predominantly aerospace and military applications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and optimize machining center processes to enhance efficiency reduce cycle times and minimize waste.
  • Determine and implement best practices and self-directed continuous improvement initiatives to achieve optimal production output.
  • Train and mentor production staff on best practices and safety protocols related to machining operations.
  • Supports Operations personnel through problem-solving and by removing production obstacles.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes troubleshooting procedures and improvements.
  • Accurately develops and maintains bills of materials and manufacturing plans.
  • Collaborate with the product design and development teams to provide input on manufacturability and feasibility during the early stages of new product development.
  • Perform design and product development activities including tooling and fixtures for implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Investigate emerging technologies identify new product opportunities and establish parameters for product direction/design.
  • Lead activities across functional groups and departments to support on time delivery quality requirements and continuous improvement activities.
  • Work with Supply Chain Planning and Operations to ensure that the ERP system has appropriate lead-times and costs assuring proper stock levels.
  • Attend Quality Manual Standards Training and apply Quality Standards accordingly.

Desired Knowledge Skills Abilities and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or related field with two or more years of related experiences and/or training.
  • Working knowledge of machining manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Experience with control fundamentals and the application of mechanical and electronics desired.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Skilled at statistical analysis of manufacturing process data.
  • Possess strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and CAD programs.
  • Aerospace knowledge is strongly desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively make presentations and write concise reports for all levels of employees.
  • Planning and ability to think ahead and plan over a 3 - 6month time span.
