Fleet Maintenance
  1. Provide preventive maintenance services such as oil changes and filter replacement on gasoline and diesel engines.
  2. Replace bearings seals belts hoses fittings and other mechanical components.
  3. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical hydraulic and basic electrical issues in field equipment.
  4. Maintain maintenance logs service records and parts usage documentation.
  5. Identify worn or failing components and recommend repairs or replacements.
  6. Extend the service life of vehicles and equipment through proper repair and maintenance practices
Lead Worker & Crew Coordination
  1. Serve as lead worker on street and stormwater construction and maintenance projects.
  2. Plan assign and coordinate daily work activities for crews under general direction of the supervisor.
  3. Provide on-the-job guidance instruction and technical assistance to Maintenance Worker I and II staff.
Advanced Infrastructure Maintenance
  1. Perform advanced maintenance repair and replacement of streets roadways and stormwater drainage systems.
  2. Inspect streets and drainage systems evaluate conditions and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  3. Perform complex pavement repair pipe replacement ditching grading and chip-and-seal operations.
Advanced Equipment & Vehicle Operation
  1. Operate heavy and specialized construction and maintenance equipment including large trucks and stormwater equipment.
  2. Ensure routine inspection cleaning and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
  3. Identify equipment defects and coordinate repairs or maintenance needs with the supervisor.
Safety & Work Zone Leadership
  1. Establish oversee and adjust work zones and traffic control in hazardous or high-traffic environments.
  2. Ensure compliance with safety policies procedures and applicable regulations.
Support Services & General Duties
  1. Assist with related Public Services activities such as solid waste collection facility support or emergency response as assigned.
  2. Maintain records related to maintenance activities materials and equipment use.
  3. Attend required training workshops and safety meetings.
  4. Perform related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum two (2) years as a Street & Stormwater Maintenance Worker II or two (2) years of comparable advanced public works or construction experience.
  3. Ability to meet the Physical Capacity Profile Level 4 requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine operation diagnostics and repairs.
  2. Knowledge of drivetrain systems including transmissions clutches differentials and axles.
  3. Experience serving as a lead worker or coordinating work crews.
  4. Experience operating heavy or specialized public works equipment.
  5. Knowledge of traffic control standards and work zone safety practices.
Certifications / Licenses:
  1. Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record.
  2. Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Technical & Equipment Expertise
  1. Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems used in vehicles and heavy equipment.
  2. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
  3. Working knowledge of hydraulic pneumatic and electromechanical systems.
  4. Advanced knowledge of street and stormwater maintenance methods materials and equipment.
  5. Ability to safely operate heavy and specialized construction and maintenance equipment.
Leadership & Judgement
  1. Ability to lead work crews and coordinate daily activities without direct supervision.
  2. Ability to make sound decisions related to safety workflow and equipment use.
Safety & Compliance
  1. Knowledge of safety regulations traffic control requirements and hazard mitigation practices.
  2. Ability to enforce safe work practices and correct unsafe conditions.
Communication & Reliability
  1. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors coworkers and the public.
  2. Ability to maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.

Must meet Level 4 in Department of Labors Dictionary of Titles Heavy Work exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly. Involves walking sitting standing climbing stooping crawling kneeling and stretching as required.

Must successfully pass a background check drug screen physical exam and essential functions test.

Normal Work Hours: 7am - 3:30p. (30 minute lunch break) Mon.-Fri.
