Job Summary

JOB TITLE-Summer Adventuretime Team Leader

CLASSIFICATION- Classified

FLSA STATUS- Non-Exempt

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR-Adventuretime Coordinator

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM- Building administrators district leadership

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION- Supervise and participate in all aspects of the Adventuretime preschool and school age program involving activity planning scheduling and associate staff supervision and teacher/parent communication.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

  1. Ability to relate well with children. Understanding and ability to meet developmental needs of preschool and school age children.
  2. Knowledge and skill in childcare / child development including what children are capable of at different age levels; health.
  3. Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures.
  4. Knowledge of childrens activities that will get the child to use both their skill and imagination.
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to plan organize and implement program activities as well as participate in those activities.
  7. Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  8. Ability to be on time and follow through with responsibilities.
  9. Ability to serve as a positive role model for staff and children.
  10. Knowledge of and skill in managing on-site staff.
  11. Ability to anticipate problems and take preventive action.
  12. Ability to create a collaborative working environment.
  13. Ability to effectively communicate with students parents staff teachers and administration.

Education

  1. High School Education and/or brief technical training outside of high school.

Certification/Licensure

  1. Current First Aid and CPR certification (Adventuretime will provide training if needed)
  2. Current Mandatory Reporters of Child Abuse Certification
  3. Current Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
  4. Medication Administration Certification (Adventuretime will provide training)
  5. OSHA (Right to Know)
  6. Essentials of Childcare DHS Online trainings

Experience

  1. Six months - One year of childcare experience preferred.

Equipment

  1. Office equipment such as computers two-way radios multi-line phone system cell phone copier and fax machines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  1. Program Procedures
    1. Assist in Maintaining Accurate Records.
      1. Incident Reports
      2. Medication/Allergy Paperwork
      3. Weekly Lesson Plans
      4. Program Schedules
      5. Current Emergency Forms
      6. Field-trip Receipts.
    2. Planning
      1. Assist in Organizing planning and preparing activities for the children; including ordering and receiving needed materials for activities.
      2. Communicating lesson plans to associates and making sure they are implemented on a daily basis.
      3. Assist in Arranging Field Trips.
      4. Assist in planning and preparing healthy daily snacks for children.
      5. Assist in developing and implementing positive behavior management plans that align with program expectations.
    3. Staff Development
      1. Attend staff development scheduled in May before summer program starts.
      2. Collaborate with the building team leader to discuss/modify lesson plans.
    4. Communication
      1. Develop positive relationships and communicate effectively with school staff custodians food service staff teachers principals school secretaries guidance counselors and supervisors.
      2. Greet parents and students when they arrive and leave.
      3. Communicate positive and negative behaviors with parents on a daily basis.
      4. Provide parents with incident reports newsletters program changes or updates upcoming events and office contact information.
      5. Maintain confidentiality of childrens records.
    5. Site Safety
      1. Maintain a clean sanitary orderly and safe environment.
      2. Utilize space effectively to meet the needs of children.
      3. Maintain appropriate child/staff ratios at all times.
      4. Follow DHS Food Safety/Sanitation guidelines when preparing and distributing snacks.
      5. Demonstrate proper examples for children in health and safety procedures. Monitor health of children; administer medications as prescribed arrange for ill children to be taken home and fill out incident reports if a child is injured or in an accident.
    6. Performs other duties assigned.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS-

  1. Adventuretime associates

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-

  1. Ability to organize and think clearly while communicating organizing and evaluating.
  2. Frequent walking running standing bending stooping kneeling reaching pushing pulling using fingers hands feet legs and torso participating in various activities with children.
  3. Drug tobacco and alcohol free while working.
  4. Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
  5. Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS-

  1. Majority of work is performed in an office school or field trip setting.
  2. Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
  3. Required to work with children outside during all seasons.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT-

  1. At-Will Employee
  2. 10 weeks
  3. Work set schedule Monday-Friday each week.
  4. May take off a maximum of 5 (unpaid days) during the summer program.
  5. Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.
