The school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Welfare Officer to join its pastoral team.

Role Overview

The Welfare Officer will provide frontline pastoral and safeguarding support to students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students with emotional and wellbeing concerns

  • Responding to first aid incidents and medical needs

  • Monitoring vulnerable students

  • Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead

  • Liaising with parents and external agencies

  • Supporting attendance and behaviour interventions

  • Maintaining accurate safeguarding records

  • Providing short-term mentoring support

  • Promoting wellbeing initiatives across the school

  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures

This role requires empathy discretion and strong communication skills.

Pastoral Team Information

The Welfare Officer works alongside Heads of Year the SENCO and safeguarding leads. The school has clear referral systems and established support pathways.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with young people

  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills

  • Ability to remain calm in sensitive situations

  • Good record-keeping and IT skills

  • Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusion
