Rate Range: 45 - 55 an hour (Contractor)

About the role
We are looking for a Senior GCP Cloud SecOps Specialist to act as the primary guardian of our cloud infrastructure within an international project environment.
This role focuses on building automated security guardrails that protect data and applications without slowing down development velocity. You will ensure that every layer of the cloud environmentfrom compute resources to databasesis securely configured continuously monitored and aligned with global security best practices.
If you have a strong Security-as-Code mindset deep GCP expertise and experience securing Kubernetes-based environments this opportunity is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement automated infrastructure governance policies to ensure secure configuration from resource creation.
Set up and manage real-time threat detection and response mechanisms in containerized environments.
Enforce Least Privilege access models using IAM best practices.
Manage encryption of sensitive data (at rest and in transit) including secure handling of digital keys and secrets.
Maintain continuous audit trails to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal security standards.
Collaborate closely with DevOps and CloudOps teams to integrate security seamlessly into CI/CD workflows.
Technical Requirements
Expert-level knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including:
IAM
Security Command Center
VPC Service Controls
Strong experience in Kubernetes (K8s) security including RBAC and Secret Management.
Hands-on experience with security tooling:
Kyverno (Policy-as-Code)
Falco (Runtime Security)
Trivy (Vulnerability Scanning)
Proficiency in Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
Strong understanding of KMS and database encryption protocols.

78 years of experience in Cloud Security / SecOps roles.
A strong automation-first mindset (Security-as-Code).
Experience working in international distributed teams.
Ability to explain complex security risks to non-technical stakeholders.
Autonomous goal-oriented professional with strong ownership mentality.
