Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Work Days:

Reports To: Director of Special Services

REQUIREMENTS: Occupational Therapist Licensure (NAOTA & SD)

JOB SUMMARY: To provide occupational therapy services to Special Ed students who require occupational therapy and who are eligible

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides direct occupational therapy to special education students who are eligible and who are in need.
  2. Conducts evaluations for referred students to determine the eligibility and need for occupational therapy following state criteria and district procedures.
  3. Attend relevant MDT and IEP meetings as a qualified evaluator to explain evaluation results and recommendations and to contribute appropriate goals for student IEPs.
  4. To act as a resource for educators to help address modifications and strategies in the classroom for fine and visual motor skills.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit stand and walk without fatigue and discomfort. Must be able to assist in student transfer from chair to chair chair to floor etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Inside
  2. Climate Environment: Typically work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
  3. Hazards: For some buildings stairs chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
