Job Title: Occupational Therapist

REQUIREMENTS: Occupational Therapist Licensure (NAOTA & SD)
JOB SUMMARY: To provide occupational therapy services to Special Ed students who require occupational therapy and who are eligible
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct occupational therapy to special education students who are eligible and who are in need.
- Conducts evaluations for referred students to determine the eligibility and need for occupational therapy following state criteria and district procedures.
- Attend relevant MDT and IEP meetings as a qualified evaluator to explain evaluation results and recommendations and to contribute appropriate goals for student IEPs.
- To act as a resource for educators to help address modifications and strategies in the classroom for fine and visual motor skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit stand and walk without fatigue and discomfort. Must be able to assist in student transfer from chair to chair chair to floor etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Inside
- Climate Environment: Typically work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
- Hazards: For some buildings stairs chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
