Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Material Data Expert (MDE) based in São Paulo (BRA)
About you and this role
The purpose of the job or role why it exists: The Material Data Expert (MDE) provides material data management services within a Dow business or multiple businesses. This includes ensuring that material master data meets or exceeds data quality standards established in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the business/function. The MDE partners with Enterprise Data & Analytics (ED&A) to help manage data quality audits and cycle time metrics. The MDE understands who their key contacts are within the request process workflow and they provide support and consultation to those businesses and functional contacts.
The Material Data Expert is responsible for supporting the operational implementation of the coding business rules for the material master data. The MDE knows the application/system level details pertaining to the data where it resides and how it is used and they are the go to expert for day-to-day operation and use of material data codes for the businesses they support. The MDE provides operational expertise on material data for their businesses.
Responsibilities:
The Material Data Expert provides services under the following areas:
Create & Maintain Codes: The MDE facilitates the Material Code Request process for create change discontinue and reactivate requests.
They work closely with their MDS counterparts to create and maintain codes. They provide consultation to Material Code Requestors on code request process and form submission.
The MDE owns and is accountable to create and maintain Material Business Coding Rules and standards.
MDEs aligned to the PU (Polyurethane) to create extend reactivate and maintain material codes.
They also work closely with them to resolve issues provide consultation/training on the latest tools/updates and facilitate discussions with the business regarding Product and Material requests.
Teamwork: Although the MDE works independently there are key counterparts where teamwork is a critical strength. The MDE
Escalates issues process improvements and suggestions (Business Process Specialist or Business Data Specialist).
Works closely with other MDEs to provide backup support as well as provide coaching and consultation to their MDE peers.
The MDE interacts with the Dow Business that they support through various roles such as the Business Quality Leader QST QSAS or Supply Chain Leader.
The MDE is responsible for data quality / accuracy of data elements for their respective Business rules.
Projects: The MDE is involved as a key material data contact in business related projects. They may coordinate/validate the migration of data between system releases.
They may participate in Merger Acquisition and Divestiture Data implementations. They may also lead determine scope approach timeline and projects steps with the Dow businesses related to business specific data cleansing rebranding or mass code creation or discontinuation projects.
Training: The MDE provides business specific coding training as necessary to new and existing users.
Data Quality & Audits: The MDE works to correct data quality defects based on data requirements and identified as part of reporting audits.
Metrics: The MDE works identify define and implement performance measures for the Material Code create/ maintain processes.
The MDE monitors metrics for the businesses they support. They identify performance gaps in the Material Code create/ maintain processes and take corrective actions.
Qualification:
Bachelors Degree (ongoing or completed)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook
Advanced English
SAP (ECC) mandatory knowledge
ServiceNow
Business Objects
Strong process expertise for creating and maintaining material codes
Experience in material management supply chain and/or I/S
Strong analytical knowledge and skills
Data analytics and analytical reporting
Ability to participate in business-specific projects as needed
