8th Grade Summer Bridge Program Coordinator (1 position)
Stipend: $40 an hour up to 100 hours for up to $4000
Context: This intervention serves 8th grade students that will have difficulty transitioning to Malden High School. The program features a combination of academics and engaging activities designed to foster a positive experience at school.
Time Commitment:
- 20 hours of pre-work during the spring of 2026 to complete hiring and the student selection process
- One 4 week session beginning July 6th through July 30th for a total of 16 days beginning at 8:00am and ending at 12:00pm. Monday through Thursday.
- 20 hours of prework and 5 hours per day for a total of up to 20 hours per week for one 4 week session. Stipend not to exceed $4000
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate referral process and coordinate registration/scheduling of students including all communications with principals teachers and caregivers.
- Oversee family communication and outreach to confirm enrollment and share any program updates.
- Communicate with food service and transportation (if applicable) based on student enrollment.
- Develop high-level vision and goal outcomes for students participating in the program.
- Maintain student attendance records.
- Work with teachers and staff to craft lesson plans and daily activities that develop pre-requisites for high school students through student-led projects team building activities and academic instruction.
- Conduct full Summer Bridge staff meetings including team building sharing timeline and schedules discussing planning tasks and assigning lesson/activity plans.
- Hold a welcome session and closing celebration while maintaining an engagement throughout the multi-week program.
Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher Certification with an SEI Endorsement
- Successful teaching and/or administrative experience.
- Ability to plan and supervise the implementation of standards based curriculum in Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics.
- Ability to relate /communicate effectively with teachers students parents and administrators.
- The coordinator must commit to being present for each day of the program. See dates below for more info.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Previous experience leading summer or after school programs preferred.
- Experience working in the Malden Public Schools.
- Experience working with middle school and high school students/high school transition
