Paralegal Casino / Employment Litigation
About the Role:
As a Litigation Paralegal you will provide comprehensive support to attorneys representing casino and employment defense clients. You will be involved from case inception through trial preparation and resolution ensuring that matters move forward efficiently and deadlines are met.
This role requires strong analytical skills the ability to manage detailed documentation and consistent communication with insurance carriers opposing counsel medical providers and clients. You will play a critical role in preparing cases for hearings depositions and trials while maintaining organized and compliant case files.
The position is ideal for a paralegal who enjoys substantive litigation work and can work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research
- Prepare weekly court lists
- Review files prior to attorney court appearances
- Complete pre-trial discovery including summarizing:
- Medical records
- Transcripts
- Carrier files
- Wage and work histories
- Personnel records
- Correspond with insurance carriers and opposing counsel to obtain discovery and necessary documentation
- Communicate with medical providers and manage HIPAA authorizations
- Draft pleadings motions appellate documents and file with the court
- Maintain pleadings and discovery files
- Organize exhibits evidence briefs and appendices
- Record and code time worked in the billing system
- Monitor and track court deadlines and filings
- Provide administrative support including scheduling and calendar management
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Paralegal Certification Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and legal office operations
- Strong drafting editing and written communication skills
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse clients
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Proficiency in Outlook Word Excel Lexis Research and Adobe Pro
- Highly organized task-oriented and able to work independently
- Familiarity with NetDocs and Time Matters is a plus
