CDL Program Coordinator

Role:

Grayson College is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced CDL Program Coordinator to lead manage and support the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) training program. The CDL Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination compliance instructional quality and day-to-day operations of the CDL program. This role ensures that students receive high-quality instruction aligned with state and federal regulations while supporting instructors maintaining equipment and fostering strong industry standards and partnerships. This is a 9-month full-time Faculty position.
This position reports to Grayson Colleges Director of Industrial Technologies and the Dean of Academic and Workforce Instruction.

The salary for this position is based on the Grayson College 2025-2026 Faculty Salary scale Medical Dental Vision Life Short & Long-term disability insurances available
Medical premiums covered by Grayson College for FT employee only
Sick Leave Accrual- 2 weeks per year
Personal Leave- 2 days for FT employees per year
Holidays- Labor Day Thanksgiving Break Winter Break Martin Luther King Jr. Day Spring Break Memorial Day Juneteenth and Independence Day
Tuition-FT employees their spouse & dependents are eligible for coverage of full Grayson College tuition amount.

Responsibilities:
  • 65% Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the CDL training program including scheduling curriculum delivery instructional consistency vehicle/equipment maintenance and hands-on CDL training (this is not an exhaustive list). Ensure compliance with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) FMCSA and other applicable state and federal requirements. Maintain accurate program records including student enrollment attendance instructional hours progress and outcomes. Teaching hours may be a combination of morning afternoon and/or night sessions.
  • 10% Works as a team member in the Industrial Technologies Department; complies with the faculty responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the Colleges Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • 10% Develops and updates curriculum as updated by the State of Texas participates in college committees and assists in registration advisement and recruiting of students.
  • 10% Contributes to the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean and/or Director.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements preferred
Must be 21 years of age or older
Minimum three (3) years of commercial driving experience within the past ten (10) years or meet minimum requirements for instructor licensure
Knowledge of CDL regulations FMCSA standards and industry best practices
Ability to effectively communicate teach coach and evaluate students and instructors
Strong organizational leadership and problem-solving skills
Clean driving record (reviewed on a case-by-case basis if not fully compliant)
Ability to pass and maintain:
o DOT physical
o DOT drug and alcohol screening
o Criminal background check (reviewed on a case-by-case basis; second-chance friendly)
Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
Prior CDL instructional or program coordination experience
Previous teaching training or supervisory experience
Completion of a CDL instructor development course (or willingness to complete a minimum 40-hour course upon hire)
