Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently seeking a Training & Development Coordinator Sr. This role will support leadership training and development initiatives by coordinating delivering and/or supporting assigned leadership programs. Support the agency initiatives for alternate dispute resolutions by providing mediation and coaching services. This position is critical in the Departments ability to hire develop and retain a highly proficient workforce by providing required training to current and future employees.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to travel throughout the state to provide consult services i.e. mediation coaching;
  • Deliver training and to adhere to state travel reimbursement guidelines;
  • Adjust to the changing needs of the organization;
  • Communicate verbally and in writing at all levels and provide exceptional customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of adult learning methods;
  • Demonstrated skills in the delivery of leadership and soft skills content for an adult audience utilizing a variety of training interventions;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow lesson plans; plan organize and schedule work;
  • Considerable knowledge of organizational development and leadership development;
  • Interpret and apply agency and unit policies and procedures;
  • Experience in developing/designing coordinating and delivering leadership training.

Additional Considerations

  • Equivalent combination of training & experience in behavioral health criminal justice human services or related field.
