Job Summary

Front Desk Receptionist - Part Time

The Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking to hire a part time front desk receptionist to provide warm and cordial reception assistance to students faculty staff and visitors at the Nightingale-Bamford School.

This position reports to the Director of Safety and Security. This is a part-time hourly non-exempt position.

The schedule is based on a 20-25 hour work week. The security officers actual work hours will be primarily 1:00 PM (or 2:00 PM) to 6:00 PM but may require flexibility depending on the needs of the school.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain a presence at the front door and screen visitors before they are allowed entrance into the school
  • Receive and announce all visitors and issue them a visitors pass
  • Answer the main phone in a courteous manner and assist all callers with their questions
  • Assist students faculty/staff and visitors with general inquiries/questions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all interactions with the Nightingale community and its guests
  • Maintain and monitor reception work station including security cameras access control and visitor management
  • Report and document any school incidents and/or crimes
  • Comply with all school policies procedures general orders and instructions
  • Complete all required reports
  • Respond to all calls for service and emergencies throughout the schoolhouse
  • Maintain a professional attitude towards the Nightingale community and its guests
  • Perform all other related tasks and duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalency program
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience particularly in the areas of hospitality reception or customer service
  • Ability and willingness to work with all faculty and staff and work as part of a security team
  • Flexible self-motivated detail-oriented problem-solver able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere; excellent communication skills are a must
  • Ability to assess and manage a potential emergency or crisis situation
  • Ability to read write and speak the English language sufficiently to understand and process all required paperwork and to communicate effectively with students faculty staff and visitors; perform administrative duties in support of the Security Department
  • Basic computer literacy is required: familiarity with G-Suite applications navigating CCTV and access control software and printing visitor badges

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sufficient stamina to perform all essential job functions for a standard shift
  • Ability to walk the school property climb stairs and assist or carry a disabled ill or injured person
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Sufficient strength and flexibility for stooping kneeling bending crouching lifting carrying and other movements

SALARY RANGE

In compliance with NYCs Pay Transparency Act the hourly salary range for this position is $28 to $30 per hourNightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates work experience education/training key skills internal peer equity as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
