Arcadis is hiring a Project Stormwater Engineer to support our growing Alabama drainage practice. With a strong pipeline of projects we are expanding our team to deliver innovative solutions across roadways and stormwater infrastructure. Guided by an experienced leadership group you will contribute to challenging high-impact projects that foster professional growth. This role offers a flexible remote work environment with opportunities to collaborate on local national and international initiatives while remaining within driving distance of an Arcadis office.
- Perform engineering design for roadway drainage and design-build projects including collector streets arterials expressways interstates and bridge replacements.
- Conduct bridge hydraulic studies culvert design closed drainage system design pond design and erosion/sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans project displays cost estimates reports and technical memos.
- Lead marketing efforts for drainage projects including proposal development letters of response presentations and interviews.
- Provide quality control reviews for drainage calculations and plans.
- Utilize design software such as MicroStation Inroads ORD-SUDA AutoCAD Civil 3D Microsoft Excel GIS ICPR HEC-RAS HY8 FlowMaster Pond Pack StormCAD SMS SRH2D and HEC-RAS 2D.
- Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines (roadway structures utilities).
- Mentor and direct junior engineers.
- Work independently with minimal technical supervision.
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 7 years of DOT drainage design experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on DOT projects.
- In depth understanding of Bridge Hydraulics Analysis.
- Understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations
- Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
- Experience with permitting requirements of Water Management Districts and FDEP.
- Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for the linear nature of transportation projects
- Possess effective communication (written and verbal) teamwork skills and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
- Exhibit the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.
