Overview

Work with the import department management team to ensure that all payments (ACH deferred tax interest bills etc.) are accurate and timely processed and transmitted to Customs and Border Protection as required by federal regulation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follow-up and secure missing documentation for import accounting record keeping as required by Federal law in addition to department and company policy and procedures
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and checklists as required
  • Maintain files electronically and physically in cabinets as needed according to federal agency guidelines in addition to department and company policies and procedures
  • Closely partner with the import department assistant manager and manager to ensure that all payments (Automatic Clearing House-ACH deferred tax interest bills etc.) are accurate and timely processed and transmitted to Customs and Border Protection as required by federal regulation
  • Coordinate the processing of documents with US Customs relating to all imported merchandise
  • Communicate with suppliers for necessary paperwork and order confirmation
  • Prepare check requests for all related fees
  • Maintain bonded warehouse inventory book and process withdrawals from bonded warehouse
  • Monitor shipment arrivals and coordinate delivery schedules
  • Calculate deferred tax on a semi-monthly basis
  • Assist in reconciliation of physical inventory and Federal product tax records with inventory control supervisor
  • Prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints
  • Assist with other department functions as needed including but not limited to monthly billing of other divisions and documentation team support
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Additional Primary Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of experience
  • 1- years of experience with imports accounting requirements

Physical Demands

  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g. keyboard mouse and monitor) or adding machine
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking bending reaching standing and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering pushing carrying or pulling up to 20lbs
