Role Title: Strategic Account Manager

Location: London

About the Role

Drive execution of strategic account plans that accelerate growth and deepen partnerships with high-value national firms networks and consolidators. This role supports the Strategic Account Director by amplifying strategic impactextending reach into key accounts ensuring flawless delivery and uncovering new commercial opportunities. With individual responsibility for managing a portfolio of accounts leading engagement on emerging relationships and collaborating closely with senior stakeholders the Strategic Account Manager plays a critical role in advancing market leadership and unlocking long-term value.

What youll be responsible for

1. Account Management & Client Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned panel of accounts and providesupport across all other Strategic Partner firms as required handling all operational and service-related queries.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships withcounterpart stakeholders within Strategic Partner businesses.
  • Take the lead on assessing assigned emerging accounts where opportunities are not yet quantified escalating for collaboration.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products services and reporting to meet client expectations.
  • Conduct regular client meetings with assigned accounts to review performance address concerns and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Represent the organization at key industry events and contribute to partner engagement activities.
  • Support execution of opportunities derived through Strategic Partner activity in collaboration with Rathbones Regional Directors and BDDs/ BDEs.

2. Support Strategic Initiatives

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement account strategies and deliver on client objectives.
  • Support the creation and delivery of thought leadership content where appropriate.
  • Execute joint account plans ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional Rathbones products services and solutions and collaborate internally with key stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach.

3. Revenue Growth & Retention

  • Contribute to achieving sales revenue and AUM growth targets through effective relationship management.
  • Drive retention by ensuring high client satisfaction and proactively addressing risks.
  • Identify new opportunities within existing accounts to broaden relationships and increase engagement.

4. Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with the Strategic Account Director Marketing and Distribution teams to build and deliver go-to-market content supporting objectives for Asset Management DFM MPS and Investing for Life in Retirement.
  • Coordinate with internal teamsincluding investment management operations marketing and complianceto ensure a seamless client experience and ensure that all opportunities are aligned to business interests.

5. Market and Competitor Insights

Market intelligence: Gather insights on market trends client needs and regulatory changes affecting the sector.

Competitor analysis: Monitor competitors & provide actionable insights to adapt strategies and maintain a competitive edge.

7. Brand Positioning and Advocacy

Brand ambassador: Represent Rathbones at industry events conferences and meetings with strategic partner firms where directed

Thought leadership: Contribute to the creation of whitepapers webinars or presentations as directed

8. Compliance and Risk Management

Regulatory adherence: Ensure all activities comply with FCA regulations and internal compliance standards.

Risk awareness: Mitigate potential risks in account management and sales processes.

Governance: Ensure a robust governance framework is in place for all key accounts

  • KPIs/ Measures of Success
    Robust account and joint business plans in place for each assigned Account
  • Accurate and up to date Salesforce records : contact details activity and meeting notes.
  • Broad representation of Rathbones with each key account : C-Suite Marketing Distribution Operations etc.
  • AUM growth targets (300 million in 2025).
  • Retention rate (90% of existing AUM retained annually).
  • New Strategic Partnerships established & existing relationships deepened.
  • Revenue generated from cross-selling additional services.
  • Attendance and presentations at industry events
  • KPI Measures include sales flow activity pipeline /opportunity rating event plan Salesforce &conferences

About you

  • QCA Level 4 or equivalent
  • Good investment industry platform and fund knowledge
  • Strong proven experience delivering results in a fast-paced sales and client centric environment
  • Can build and maintain strategic relationshipswith a variety of stakeholders with an aligned panel of nominated accounts
  • An ability to build positive personal industry presence and a network with external stakeholders and competitors gaining insight on industry issues and best practice
  • Confident in influencing and challenging thinking at a senior level faced with a number of conflicting priorities and opinions using exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to help craft and deliver presentations
  • Commercially astute with an intuition for business negotiation and influencing skills to facilitate successful delivery of strategic and operational priorities
  • Has tenacity to drive growth in periods of market volatility strong competitor response and significant change
  • Can assist in setting the tone from the top leading through change and articulating our direction as a business bringing together the why what and the how
