Director, Learner Services

Horizon School Division is seeking an inspiring dynamic and experienced educational leader to join our leadership team as a Director of Learner Services. The successful candidate will be a champion for equitable access to high-quality education and will possess a deep understanding of structuring services and instructional practices to foster a culture of continuous learning collective capacity building and cultural responsiveness that empowers both educators and students.

The Division

Horizon serves approximately 3600 students in ten vibrant rural communities: Lomond Enchant Vauxhall Hays Barnwell Grassy Lake Warner Milk River Coutts and Taber. There are 15 schools 3 Outreach Programs 2 Alternative Christian programs and 19 Hutterian Brethren Colony Schools served by a quality staff of approximately 220 teachers and 270 non-teaching staff. Horizons demographics include a large population of EAL students consisting predominantly of Low German Mennonites. The Role

As a pivotal member of our leadership team the successful candidate will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for key areas impacting student achievement and educator growth across our division. The role involves working collaboratively with the Superintendent and Senior Administration Leadership Team Division Office personnel School Administrative Team and supporting schools with alignment of Board policy and direction. The Director of Learning will be supporting all areas of learner services including but not limited to support for new curriculum implementation and division-wide professional learning

As a key member of the divisions senior leadership team the Director reports to the Associate Superintendent of Learner Services.

Requirements

Masters degree in Education Educational Leadership Curriculum & Instruction or a related field.

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate and Leadership Quality Standard (LQS)

Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in school-based administration (e.g. Principal Vice-Principal) or central office leadership roles directly related to curriculum instruction or student services.
