An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Development Lead within the Growth Service in the Environment & Transport Department. We are looking for someone to lead the County Councils input to a portfolio of highly sensitive and complex strategic development sites including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.

About the Role

You will manage a portfolio of highly sensitive and complex Priority Development Sites located throughout the County acting as a key knowledge holder delivering against tight deadlines and monitoring the Councils financial and other risks ensuring that they remain tightly managed.

You will lead engagement with Chief Officers and senior managers across the Council to take forward the Councils growth agenda exploring opportunities that secure and accelerate housing delivery commitments and maximise developer contributions for infrastructure and Council services.

This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990.

About You

To apply for this post you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

• Be educated to degree (or equivalent) level in a relevant subject and have significant experience of managing diverse and complex projects/programmes including public and private sector partnerships.
• Have experience in the development and delivery of major housing and employment sites with a reliance on the definition of major infrastructure requirements.
• Have experience of the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) process.
• Have experience of managing and motivating a team of people including the ability to develop a clear vision translate this into a concise plan deploy resources effectively set targets manage underperformance develop both individuals and the team and celebrate success.
• Have extensive experience of working with senior executive and political leaders working at a strategic level to influence policy and delivery.
