Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Product Owner / Product Consultant to review and validate the product vision backlog and user stories for a web and mobile application in the heavy load trucking primary goal of this role is to ensure that what has been envisioned and planned is coherent complete feasible and aligned with real-world operational needs before further development is a review and refinement role not hands-on development.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Vision Validation
Review the existing product vision goals and roadmap
Validate that the planned features align with business objectives and end-user needs in the heavy load trucking domain
Identify gaps assumptions or misalignments in the current product thinking
Backlog & Story Review
Review existing epics features and user stories
Assess stories for:
Clarity and completeness
Proper user value and acceptance criteria
Logical sequencing and dependencies
Identify missing stories edge cases and non-functional requirements
Recommend improvements rewrites or restructuring of stories where needed
Domain & Workflow Validation
Validate workflows against real-world heavy load trucking operations (permits routing compliance dispatch tracking etc.)
Ensure regulatory operational and user constraints relevant to Canada are appropriately considered
Technical & Platform Alignment
Collaborate with the technical team to ensure stories are feasible and well-aligned with:
Web application architecture hosted on AWS
Mobile application constraints and capabilities
Call out risks related to scalability performance and integrations early
Stakeholder Guidance
Provide clear recommendations on:
What is ready to build
What needs rework
What should be deferred or dropped
Act as a trusted advisor to product business and delivery teams
Deliverables
Reviewed and refined backlog with clear recommendations
Identified gaps risks and assumptions
Suggested improvements to product scope and sequencing
A clear build-ready vs not-ready assessment of planned stories
Required Experience
10 years of experience as a Product Owner Product Manager or Product Consultant
Strong experience reviewing and shaping product backlogs and user stories
Experience in logistics transportation trucking or supply chain (heavy load / specialized hauling is a strong plus)
Experience working with web and mobile applications
Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures (AWS experience preferred)
Strong ability to challenge assumptions constructively and provide clear actionable feedback
Nice to Have
Experience with Canadian transportation or regulatory environments
Experience stepping into existing products mid-planning to course-correct
Consulting or advisory background
