We are seeking a Temporary Full-Time Accounting Assistant to provide bookkeeping and administrative support to the Finance team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented have past experience working in accounting with a high-level of accuracy and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

This is a Hybrid full-time temporary role with the potential of being temporary to permanent.


ORGANIZATION: Education Nonprofit

LOCATION: New York City Midtown (3 days in Office)

POSITION TITLE: Accounting Assistant

SCHEDULE: 30-40 hours/week Hybrid

DURATION: Temporary - 3-4 Months (potential of becoming permanent)

Pay- $27/hr - $30/hr


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 3 years of finance/accounting experience - nonprofit support preferred
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks with a high-level of accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Experience using QuickBooks required


How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Process accounts payable by entering bills check requests and expense reimbursements into the QuickBooks accounting system
  • Create and update expense and budget reports for program managers and grants
  • Additional accounting responsibilities as required
  • Manage accounts payable accounts receivable
  • Prepare filings: sales tax filing 1099 filings
  • Prepare budget reports
  • Will use the following systems: QuickBooks Desktop Google Suite and Excel
