About the Role

Our Canberra office is on a progressive growth trajectory and as such we areexpanding ourProgram and Project Advisory Servicesteam.We are currently looking for an experiencedManagerwho is ready for the next step in their career.

In this pivotal role you will collaborate with a high-performing and results driventeamapplying yourexpertiseand passion for portfolio program and project managementassuranceto deliver meaningful insights and pragmatic actionstodrive real improvements in complexgovernmentdigital transformationand policy implementationinitiatives.

You willwork closelywithourFederal Governmentclientssupporting the team with scoping planning and delivering major assurance engagementsthat shape the future of public sector delivery. You willhave the exposure and ability to work alongside aSenior Leadership team with decades of industry experience who are invested in your career growth and success.


About the Team

BDO has experienced teams across Australia offering a range of Risk Advisory Services (RAS) to businesses and organisations in both the private and public sectors.

OurRAS team in Canberraincludethe provision ofProgram andProject Assurance andAdvisoryservices. Regardless of the size of the project or organisation project assurance isinvaluable in effectively assessing projecthealth andproviding delivery confidenceacross all areas of risk to supportsuccessful project & program outcomes.

We typically reporttothe ProgramSponsor C-suitelevel Executives Steering CommitteesandBoard/s while working alongside the Project/Program delivery teams in helping them assess and mitigate the delivery risks associated with the transformation/implementation.


KeyDuties andResponsibilities:

  • Leading thescoping fieldwork and reportingof program and project assurance reviews assessingoverall delivery healthand its deliveryeffectiveness risk management compliance and maturity to help clients achieve successful outcomes.

  • Accountable for the delivery of end-to-end project engagementactivities includingmanagement of engagement budgets quality delivery ofclient and internaldeliverables deliverabletimelinesand resources.

  • Be the point of contact for ourprogramandproject client teamstodeliver real-timeand meaningful insights with pragmatic recommendationsthat drivecontinuousdeliveryimprovementsand alignment with strategicobjectives.

  • Work alongside seniorleaders in the firmtogenerateinsights that matterusingdata analysis and clear reportingtailored to the needs of diverse stakeholders.

  • Driving business development activities across the team includingend-to-end development of proposals broader marketactivityand client presentations.

  • Coaching mentor support and educatejunior team members fostering a culture of collaboration knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

  • Understand and applyBDOs assurance and evaluation methodologies tools and templates to ensurerigorousconsistentand value-driven approach across all engagements.

  • Champion BDOs values ofOneBoldHumanStriveand Heartpromotinghigh standardsacross all stages of the project lifecycle.


About You

This role would suit a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who would be looking to join a growinganddynamic team. You will play a key part in helping clients navigate complex change by bringing structure insight and a collaborative mindset to every engagement.

It is strongly recommended that you have demonstrable experience in the following:

  • Demonstrated experience inprogramorproject assuranceperformance evaluationand auditprocesseswith exposure tolatest better practices and frameworks indelivering assurance within Federal Governmentrisk management project managementprojectgovernanceandlegislative compliance etc.

  • Possesses a strong internal drive a growth mindset and clear aspirations for leadership and professional development.

  • Proven business development acumen and a natural ability to build andmaintainclient relationships.

  • A strategic and critical-thinking mindset with the ability to brainstormpossible solutionswith internal and external stakeholders.

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate acrossa variety of mediums(includingin person virtualreportsemails presentations) and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team manage engagements and deliverables.

Other Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent)inideallyproject management risk managementcommerce/businessand or IT.

  • Certification in project management methodologies (preferably with Agile PMP MSP PRINCE2 PMBOK or a similar certification).

  • Strong background and knowledge of project management methodologies tools and best practices

  • Australian Citizenship is a must (with ability to secure an Australian Government Security Clearance).
