Position Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays an essential role in supporting high-quality patient care. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and the direct supervision of an RN or LPN the CNA assists patients with daily living activities comfort measures and mobility needs while consistently promoting dignity independence and safety. This role is an important part of a collaborative supportive care team contributing to a compassionate care environment through careful observation timely reporting of patient changes and clear communication with nursing staff. By supporting individualized care plans and organizational standards CNAs help ensure patients receive consistent attentive and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with basic care needs comfort measures and activities of daily living under the direct supervision of the registered nurse.
- Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests communicating needs or changes in condition to licensed nursing staff.
- Support patient flow by assisting with transport preparing patient areas and delivering supplies or patient belongings as needed.
- Perform clerical and unit support tasks including preparing compiling and maintaining nursing unit records as directed.
- Maintain unit inventories and assist with stocking supplies to support efficient surgical operations.
- Collaborate with nursing and surgical services staff to ensure a safe organized and patient-centered care environment.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Current North Dakota CNA certification required
- BLS required within orientation period
Educational Requirements:
- Clerical training desired
- Experience Requirements:
- One year of experience as NA preferred

- Visual acuity
- Hearing acuity
Physical Requirements:
The CNA Same Day Surgery frequently stands and walks throughout the shift while assisting patients and supporting unit activities. The role involves bending reaching lifting and assisting with patient movement supplies and equipment which may require moderate physical exertion. Adequate vision hearing and communication abilities are required to safely observe patients follow instructions and respond effectively to patient and staff needs.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in a same-day surgery and perioperative care environment with frequent interaction with patients families and multidisciplinary staff. The role involves routine exposure to medical equipment alarms cleaning agents and potential contact with blood or body fluids requiring adherence to infection-prevention and safety protocols. The environment may be fast paced with fluctuating patient volumes requiring flexibility consistent use of PPE and attention to patient safety standards.
