Job Summary:The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary:The University of Alabama seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow position. The position is available to individuals with research interests in electric vehicle analytics (EVA). The successful candidate will conduct research under the supervision of Dr. Mesut Yavuz and Dr. Matthew Hudnall and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other researchers affiliated with the Institute of Data and Analytics (IDA) Alabama Mobility and Power (AMP) center and Alabama Transportation Institute (ATI).

This position will lead and support in the development and publishing research on various topics relating to the EVA initiative to help transition to the future of transportation with electric vehicles in the state of Alabama and beyond. The successful candidate will apply tools including (but not limited to) Data Acquisitions Data Mining Data Visualization Machine Learning Statistics Optimization and Simulation in various interdisciplinary projects spanning engineering business policy and public health fields. The postdoctoral fellow will at times need to concurrently complete research goals involving peer review publications and task-driven analytic projects as detailed by extramurally funded projects. Opportunities will also be available for the scholar to assist with the development and submission of applications for externally funded contracts and grants.

The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity and funding.

Required Minimum Qualifications:Doctorate. Additional qualifications based on assignment.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Operations Research Operations Management Industrial Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the area of transportation and/or energy operations. Experience with data acquisition (web scraping and API usage) and data visualization and other analytics tools including machine learning optimization and simulation. Computer programming expertise in at least one of the C C# and Python languages.
