We are hiring a Medical Assistant or Clinic LPN to join our outpatient Medical Oncology team at the UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care. This role offers meaningful patient connection a consistent schedule and the opportunity to be part of a specialized oncology care team supporting patients through all phases of treatment.

Schedule
Full Time - 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Weekend rotation approximately one weekend every six weeks

Primary location is Pewaukee with occasional travel to Oconomowoc and Mukwonago

What youll do
In this role youll support both clinic and infusion services within Medical Oncology. Responsibilities include rooming patients assisting with clinic workflows performing lab draws from ports and supporting infusion operations as needed. Schedules are built at least two weeks in advance to support balance and predictability.

Responsibilities include
Rooming and preparing patients for oncology visits
Supporting providers and nursing staff during clinic
Performing lab draws including port access
Assisting in infusion clinic workflows
Communicating with patients and care team members
Supporting a complex and emotionally sensitive patient population

Who were looking for
LPNs with clinic or oncology experience are preferred
Medical Assistants with strong clinic backgrounds will be considered
Candidates who are calm compassionate organized and team oriented
Prior oncology experience is helpful but not required

What You Will Do:

The Clinic LPN (or Medical Assistant) performs assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients in the Medical Oncology Cancer Center Clinic.

Some of the job responsibilities include: preparing exam room; ensure sufficient stock of supplies materials and instruments; room patients and obtain vital signs; request and record health history; and ensure accurate and timely documentation into the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) or other patient records.

You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Educational background in one of the following:
    • Current state license required for those who completed the LPN education program.
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification preferred but not required for those who completed the Medical Assistant education program or Completion of an accredited LPN education program or Documented completion of the United States Military Medical Corpsman program
    • Successful completion of a 1-year accredited Medical Assistant program qualified by the AAMA preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a physician office as a MA or LPN
  • Experience with IV insertion injections and EPIC are desired skills as this individual will practice at the top of their license in this role
  • BLS (CPR) *CA #LI-MO

Outpatient medical oncology is a busy department with patients being seen in clinic by a provider either a Medical Oncologist or Nurse addition we provide infusion services which may include chemotherapy blood transfusions or other IV therapies. Our clinic staff is made up of Nationally Certified Oncology RNs Oncology Nurse Navigators LPNs and secretarial staff to take care of patient needs.
