Role Definition

Caterpillars Cat Technology team in Chennai is seeking an engineer to support Engine Performance Validation within the EPSI team. The role is responsible for validating core engine software for IPSD diesel engines (1.1L7.1L) and hybrid engine platforms for Highly Regulated Countries. Key responsibilities include defining the validation requirements for the rating releases to support NPI & NTI programs and perform checkout and endurance testing on internal and customer machines.

This position is responsible for working with cross-functional teams internal and external stakeholders (globally) to Validate and Sign Off the Performance Validation requirements thus deriving maximum value for the customers by optimizing the performance and emissions compliance of production machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate control and calibration robustness and drive process improvements
  • Perform complex data analysis to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Support BuiltInQuality (BIQ) initiatives to improve development efficiency
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to technology development
  • Communicate technical information effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers managers customers dealers and suppliers
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer and business needs

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Automobile or equivalent engineering discipline
  • 46 years of experience in engine or machine performance validation for production releases
  • Exposure to global emissions regulations and compliance testing methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of engine and aftertreatment systems and their interactions
  • Proven ability to handle complex technical assignments with minimal supervision
  • Effective technical communication and collaboration skills

  • Hands-on experience in Machine Integration Testing and Validation
  • Working Knowledge of Flash file checkout and validation sign-off; Knowledge of SiL and HiL testing and Best Practices
  • Experience conducting validation planning workshops for engine software releases
  • Lead or Supported CPI NPI and production gateway milestone management
  • DIAdem VBA MATLAB Simulink

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce analyze simulate and test product design drafts.
Level Working Knowledge:
Generates specifications for parts or components with CAD software.
Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures.
Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames solid objects and array of objects.
Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings.
Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
