Your role:

Do you want to be part of a team of journalists at CBC Manitoba which produces award-winning audio video and digital content that serves Manitobans in all corners of the province

This could be the job for you.

We are looking for a bright energetic and creative journalist to help create content primarily for Manitobas radio current affairs shows with opportunities to file on other CBC Manitoba platforms.

Who you are:

In this role you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair balanced accurate thoughtful and immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You will further our original and enterprise storytelling and ensure we are talking about what matters most to people throughout Winnipeg and the rest of the province. Youre innovative and will try new things new workflows and new story treatments. You inspire others to do the same.

As the industry shifts local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population in Manitoba and the importance of reflecting all communities in our content.

What youll do:

  • Pitch and produce original story ideas that deepen our community connections and elevate a wide range of voices.

  • Write for CBC Radios Information Radio Radio Noon and Up to Speed.

  • Write for our online platforms

  • Interview people in the field gather tape mix sound.

  • You will write and edit radio scripts in coordination with the assignment desk and the reporting team.

What you bring:

  • A deep understanding of Manitoba.

  • A deep knowledge and connection to all communities we serve

  • Ability to generate pitch and pursue solid story ideas.

  • Youre fast able to deliver stories into live radio programming often in a breaking news situation.

  • Ability to present material with credibility and authority in a range of situations including live events and breaking news.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.

  • A creative and curious storyteller.

  • A strong interviewer.

  • A critical thinker.

  • A willingness to learn and tackle new tasks across all CBC platforms.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a standout colleague.

  • University degree in journalism or equivalent preferred.

  • Two years of relevant experience is preferred.

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts late finishes and weekends.
