We are seeking a qualified Mechanical OR Electrical Fitter to join their assembly team in Acacia Ridge.

  • Ideally someone who has worked on or has some experience with repairing or rewinding electric motors.
  • Taking new motors and altering to clients specifications could be adding items or taking them off changing etc. Need good attention to detail.
  • Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm
  • Commencing casual with view to permanent transition and future career progression opportunuties
  • Must have good English comprehension.
  • Preparing for BNE facility to do IECEx certification mods in future.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Modification Workshop Operative is responsible for carrying out mechanical and electrical modifications to electric motors and related products as directed by the MOD Shop Supervisor. This includes tasks such as shaft alterations flange changes voltage modifications terminal box repositioning and other customisations based on customer specifications. The operative must ensure all work is performed safely accurately and efficiently in line with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements. This role also involves maintaining a clean and organized workspace and supporting the workshop team in meeting production deadlines and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical modifications to electric motors as directed by the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Use electric pneumatic and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Assemble and disassemble electric motors and fit required components.
  • Carry out spray painting of motors when required.
  • Conduct bearing changes as necessary.
  • Occasionally support warehouse operations when needed.
  • Communicate with local and head office staff to clarify modification requirements.
  • Assist in annual stocktakes.
  • Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols and meet delivery standards.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years in a mechanical field role preferably within the electric motor repair industry
  • Previous experience within a similar role

COMPETENCE

  • Strong and comprehensive knowledge of products the industry and market practices.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Good understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards in workshop and warehouse environments.
