Job Summary

Overview

The Technical Assistance (TA) Specialist II for WebAIM and the National Center on Accessible Digital Educational Materials & Instruction (NCADEMI) at the Institute for Disability Research Policy & Practice (IDRPP) provides highly qualified digital accessibility technical assistance as assigned to WebAIM and NCADEMI constituents. This position is telework-eligible within the state of Utah. Telework outside of the state of Utah is subject to review and approval by the University prior to a job offer being extended. However services are often provided at the sponsors location or other remote sites. We also attend conferences and have remote staff attend on-site meetings occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide TA to support entities aligning with relevant special education and technical accessibility guidelines and laws.
  • Conduct in-depth digital accessibility assessments. Generate assessment reports and guidance documents.
  • Develop and provide technology-supported and on-site trainings consultations presentations and technical assistance sessions.
  • Be familiar with and use various assistive technologies such as common screen readers and speech-to-text software.
  • Develop intermediate to advanced technical assistance resources guides and articles.
  • Support and lead technical assistance programs and initiatives within USU and with USU sponsors.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of relevant state and federal guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Participate in and contribute to WebAIM/NCADEMI/IDRPP events and activities.
  • Follow all relevant internal and USU policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in relevant fields.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrable domain knowledge and expertise in digital accessibility and technical assistance.
  • Demonstrated skills in professional verbal and written communication.
  • Willingness to travel (air and automobile) independently.

Advertised Salary

Funding Statement

The Institute for Disability Research Policy & Practice is one of the largest research and outreach centers at USU and we are largely funded through grants contracts and fee-for-service programs. All staff positions at the IDRPP are contingent upon funding and all senior staff at the IDRPP with graduate degrees are responsible for helping to generate funding to support our operations and growth.
