What you will be doing:
- Heavy mechanical works such as gear boxes clutches and steering systems
- Structural hull work and piping repairs
- Plate repairs deck and hull plates
- Pump valve and control systems repairs
- Performing high-quality welding on Navy vessels: TIG MIG Stick and Flux-Cored processes
- Working across stainless and carbon steels; occasional copper/nickel/steel work
- Interpreting and working from technical drawings and plans
- Completing hot works safely and in line with procedures
- Passing a standard weld test prior to commencement
- Maintaining PPE and safe work practices at all times
Must Haves:
- Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade)
- Proven proficiency in TIG MIG Stick & Flux-Core welding
- Strong ability to read technical drawings/plans
- Demonstrated hot-works competency
- Your own PPE (including welding shield/helmet)
- Must be PHYSICALLY FIT 14 floors of stairs.
- National Police Check (issued within the last 12 months)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and random drug & alcohol testing
- White Card (General Construction Induction)
- Must be AUSTRALIAN RESIDENT
- No Working Holiday applicants can be considered
Highly Desirable
- Working at Heights ticket
- Confined Space ticket
Pay and Conditions
- $52.50 per hour (TFN) penalties
- Day shift only: approx. 6:30am 5:00pm (810 hour shifts)
- Some Saturday work (up to 6 hours)
- Temp-to-Perm opportunity for the right person
- Sydney Naval Dockyard location (site-based)
