This role is part of FuntoNetworks strategic deployment of senior engineering talent into our clients core technology transformation initiatives. We are placing a Senior Java AWS Developer at a leading financial services institution with major presence in Berkeley Heights NJ and Atlanta GA. Both locations are critical East Coast technology centers with deep concentrations of enterprise IT fintech innovation and cloud adoption. By embedding senior engineers onsite five days a week we ensure seamless collaboration with client teams rapid response to business needs and full alignment with security and compliance mandates.

Location Requirements:

• Berkeley Heights NJ: Must reside within reasonable daily commute to Union County NJ.
• Atlanta GA: Must reside within reasonable daily commute to Midtown / Buckhead / Perimeter.
• No remote or hybrid flexibility this is a strict 5day onsite mandate per client policy.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Java AWS Developer with 10 years of experience to lead backend system design and development for a highvolume financial services platform. You will architect and implement cloudnative microservices on AWS modernize legacy monoliths and establish best practices for CI/CD performance optimization and security. This is a handson highvisibility role that requires deep technical mastery strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction. The ideal candidate thrives in fastpaced regulated environments and has a proven track record of delivering scalable resilient systems in AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design build and maintain highperformance backend services using Java 11/17 and Spring Boot.
• Cloud Architecture: Develop cloudnative solutions on AWS including Lambda EC2 S3 RDS DynamoDB API Gateway SQS SNS following WellArchitected principles.
• Microservices: Decompose monolithic applications into loosely coupled domaindriven microservices.
• API Design: Create robust RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation versioning and backward compatibility.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins AWS CodePipeline GitHub Actions. Champion infrastructureascode (Terraform CloudFormation).
• Performance & Scalability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks; implement caching connection pooling and asynchronous processing.
• Production Support: Troubleshoot complex production incidents; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor junior and midlevel developers; conduct code reviews; promote engineering best practices.
• Client Collaboration: Work directly with client architects product owners and QA teams in an Agile environment.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience with at least 5 years focused on Java Spring Boot and cloudnative architectures.

Technical Proficiency:

• AWS Certification (Solutions Architect Developer or DevOps Engineer).
• Experience with eventdriven architectures (Kafka Kinesis).
• Knowledge of security best practices in AWS (IAM roles/policies KMS VPC security).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability (CloudWatch XRay Datadog Splunk).
• Previous consulting or clientfacing engineering roles.
