This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 2577 W 5th Street Greenville - Pitt County with the Department of Health & Human Services.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $26.46 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Effective July 1 2025 candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determining Medicaid eligibility.
  • Assisting with completing Medicaid applications Medicaid enrollment discharge planning case management psychoeducational education groups documentation and monitoring of patients in milieu and safety.

Management Preferences:

  • Considerable knowledge of a wide range of behavioral and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory.
  • Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques governmental and private organizations and resources in the community.
  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles techniques and practices and their application to complex casework and group work.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with the client and/or family and in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial aspects of clients problems.

Minimum Education and Experience

Masters degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelors degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or Masters degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or Bachelors degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
