The schools vibrant Science Faculty is one of its strongest departments with high A Level uptake and impressive exam outcomes. To support the continued growth of the department the school is seeking an organised skilled and safety-focused Science Technician.
The Science Technician will play a central role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education across Biology Chemistry and Physics. This is a hands-on laboratory-based role requiring strong organisational skills attention to detail and a commitment to health and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing equipment materials and chemical solutions for practical lessons
Setting up and dismantling apparatus for KS3KS5 experiments
Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required
Ensuring all laboratories prep rooms and storage areas meet health and safety regulations
Maintaining accurate inventories of equipment materials and consumables
Supporting with ordering stock and managing deliveries
Running routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment
Safely disposing of chemical waste according to COSHH guidelines
Assisting with demonstrations and supporting students in handling apparatus safely
Working collaboratively with other technicians and teaching staff

Previous experience as a Science Technician (school or lab environment)
Strong understanding of scientific equipment handling and safety procedures
Good organisational and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with COSHH and standard laboratory safety (training available)
Ability to work independently and within a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and reliability
Commitment to supporting high-quality science education
