Role Overview

The Science Technician will play a central role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education across Biology Chemistry and Physics. This is a hands-on laboratory-based role requiring strong organisational skills attention to detail and a commitment to health and safety.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing equipment materials and chemical solutions for practical lessons

• Setting up and dismantling apparatus for KS3KS5 experiments

• Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required

• Ensuring all laboratories prep rooms and storage areas meet health and safety regulations

• Maintaining accurate inventories of equipment materials and consumables

• Supporting with ordering stock and managing deliveries

• Running routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment

• Safely disposing of chemical waste according to COSHH guidelines

• Assisting with demonstrations and supporting students in handling apparatus safely

• Working collaboratively with other technicians and teaching staff

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Science Technician (school or lab environment)

• Strong understanding of scientific equipment handling and safety procedures

• Good organisational and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with COSHH and standard laboratory safety (training available)

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent communication and reliability
