Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a vital member of the healthcare team responsible for performing both clinical and administrative tasks to support efficient and high-quality patient care. Working under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers the CMA ensures a smooth patient experience by assisting with examinations preparing exam rooms updating medical records and managing routine front-office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures by taking vital signs and documenting medical history.

  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations.

  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens perform basic lab tests and administer medications or injections as directed.

  • Conduct EKGs wound care and other diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.

  • Ensure infection control and sterilization protocols are followed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Greet patients schedule appointments and manage patient flow.

  • Update and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR).

  • Handle insurance verifications billing and coding support as needed.

  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Current certification (CMA RMA or equivalent) required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

  • Proficient in medical terminology clinical procedures and EHR systems.

  • Strong communication organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.
