Job Description: Hardware Designer with Field Issue Troubleshooting

Location: Philadelphia PA - Onsite

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Designer who not only designs robust electronic systems but also excels at field failure analysis and troubleshooting. This role requires hands-on debugging of customer-reported issues root-cause analysis and driving corrective actions across design manufacturing and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop analog digital and mixed-signal hardware circuits
Create schematics and support PCB design using Altium Designer
Lead field issue investigation including customer returns and on-site failures
Perform detailed root-cause analysis (RCA) of hardware failures
Debug issues related to power signal integrity EMI/EMC thermal and component reliability
Reproduce field issues in lab environments and define corrective actions
Support ECOs design fixes and validation testing for field issues
Collaborate with firmware manufacturing quality and supplier teams
Analyze manufacturing and component-level failures (PCBA soldering aging ESD surge etc.)
Prepare failure analysis reports and corrective/preventive action documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent
Strong hands-on experience in hardware design using Altium Designer
Proven experience in field failure troubleshooting and debugging
Solid understanding of analog digital and power electronics
Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope logic analyzer spectrum analyzer DMM)
Knowledge of EMI/EMC ESD surge protection and reliability concepts
Ability to interpret schematics PCB layouts and manufacturing data
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience supporting products in customer or field environments
Knowledge of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes
Exposure to automotive industrial telecom or consumer electronics products
Experience working with CM/vendors and component suppliers
