Job Description: Hardware Designer with Field Issue Troubleshooting
Location: Philadelphia PA - Onsite
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Hardware Designer who not only designs robust electronic systems but also excels at field failure analysis and troubleshooting. This role requires hands-on debugging of customer-reported issues root-cause analysis and driving corrective actions across design manufacturing and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop analog digital and mixed-signal hardware circuits
- Create schematics and support PCB design using Altium Designer
- Lead field issue investigation including customer returns and on-site failures
- Perform detailed root-cause analysis (RCA) of hardware failures
- Debug issues related to power signal integrity EMI/EMC thermal and component reliability
- Reproduce field issues in lab environments and define corrective actions
- Support ECOs design fixes and validation testing for field issues
- Collaborate with firmware manufacturing quality and supplier teams
- Analyze manufacturing and component-level failures (PCBA soldering aging ESD surge etc.)
- Prepare failure analysis reports and corrective/preventive action documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- Strong hands-on experience in hardware design using Altium Designer
- Proven experience in field failure troubleshooting and debugging
- Solid understanding of analog digital and power electronics
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope logic analyzer spectrum analyzer DMM)
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC ESD surge protection and reliability concepts
- Ability to interpret schematics PCB layouts and manufacturing data
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience supporting products in customer or field environments
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processes
- Exposure to automotive industrial telecom or consumer electronics products
- Experience working with CM/vendors and component suppliers
