Can you drive service excellence champion compliance and shape a highperforming Street Scene service for Birmingham

Birmingham City Council is transforming how we deliver our Street Scene services; from waste and fleet to street cleansing grounds maintenance and community environmental engagement. This role sits at the strategic heart of that improvement journey.

We are seeking a forwardthinking analytical leader who can embed robust performance management ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and help shape a modern efficient and environmentally responsible service that delivers for Birminghams residents.

Were looking for someone who will bring

  • A talent for turning data into action - youll be confident shaping performance frameworks interpreting insights and using KPIs to drive smart strategic decisionmaking.
  • A strong grasp of compliance and governance with the ability to navigate legal environmental and regulatory standards across services like waste fleet street cleansing and grounds maintenance.
  • A track record of delivering improvement using financial analysis benchmarking and transformation approaches to make services more efficient and effective.
  • A collaborative mindset able to build productive relationships across complex public services and work with national partners such as DEFRA the Environment Agency and WRAP.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear compelling reports for senior leaders committees and regulators.
  • Confident peoplecentred leadership inspiring multidisciplinary teams and championing a culture of accountability innovation and continuous improvement.
  • A genuine commitment to equality inclusion sustainability and positive community engagement helping us deliver services that reflect and support our diverse city.

In this role you will

  • Shape the strategic direction of performance compliance and service optimisation across Street Scene operations.
  • Design and lead highimpact performance frameworks dashboards and corporate reporting that improve transparency and drive better outcomes.
  • Oversee governance audits inspections and risk management making sure every part of the service meets regulatory environmental and operational standards.
  • Promote efficiency and value for money using data financial insight and benchmarking to identify opportunities for smarter more costeffective working.
  • Support major transformation projects contributing to business cases longterm improvement plans and citywide sustainability goals.
  • Inspire and guide teams across performance compliance outreach and operational control ensuring professional excellence and consistent delivery.
  • Strengthen relationships with communities supporting outreach and environmental education initiatives that encourage positive behaviours.
  • Represent the service confidently engaging with committees partners and stakeholder forums to help advance Birminghams environmental ambitions.
