DescriptionPerforms a variety of complex accounting clerical and general clerical duties in support of the Office of the Controller. Prepares reviews and maintains accounting budgetary and fiscal records and reports. Processes and reviews various financial documents and transactions. Performs other related duties as required.
Responsibilities- Processes interfaces and uploads transactions to the financial system. Reviews documents to ensure their proper backup.
- Processes the manual disbursement documents in the financial system to record Automated Clearing House (ACH) disbursements.
- Maintains system open and close periods to ensure transactions are posted to the proper fiscal year.
- Processes periodic batch and chain jobs in the financial system and monitors them for completion.
- Reviews journal entries for proper backup documentation and accurate coding and approvals.
- Receives reviews and processes invoices for a variety of payable accounts. Resolves discrepancies which may require extensive research.
- Reviews purchase orders invoices receiving confirmations invoice approvals and purchase order verifications to ensure that payments to vendors can be made promptly.
- Processes reimbursements to schools and travel and mileage reimbursements for employees. Ensures their compliance with travel policies rules and procedures.
- Verifies the accuracy of accounts payable checks before mailing.
QualificationsEducation Training and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associates degree or the completion of 60 college credits.
- Three years of experience performing complex accounting bookkeeping and/or purchasing/procurement card clerical duties.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting clerical work. Knowledge of automated accounting systems. Knowledge of personal computers and office software applications.
- Skill in organizing preparing and maintaining data in electronic and paper formats. Skill maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
- Skill in maintaining and analyzing ledgers journals and other accounting records and statements.
- Skill in the use of spreadsheet word processing and database applications. Skill in communicating effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
SALARY: $38.97 per hour (CONTRACTUAL POSITION)
