Job Description

Teach undergraduate students from North American universities who are spending a semester studying in Copenhagen Denmark. The course Psychology of Criminal Behaviorexplores why and when people commit crimes addressing topics such as personality genetics social influences psychopathology and environmental/cultural factors to understand criminal behavior.

Tasks

  • Develop prepare and evaluate course curriculum content materials and methods of instruction
  • Deliver lectures lead academic visits throughout Copenhagen and facilitate classroom discussions
  • Evaluate and grade students work

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Classroom teaching and other experiential learning activities
  • Student assessment grading and feedback throughout the course
  • Planning and leading academic field studies to relevant institutions or schools

Professional competencies

  • Masters degree in psychology or related field is required; PhD degree in psychology or related field is preferred
  • Work experience from your field of expertise
  • Excellent academic English and capable of teaching in English
  • Interest in instructing undergraduate-level students from North American institutions
  • Ability to be legally employed in Denmark (this position does not come with a work visa)

Additional information

  • Materials from current syllabi are available (both readings and in-class teaching materials)
  • As long as the main objectives of the course are retained topics can be adjusted according to the instructors background and expertise
  • Some topics can be covered by guest lecturers

Teaching Requirements

This is a short-term full-time teaching position with flexible hours. Salary is based on an AC Agreement. Teaching expectations include:3 hours of class time per day on weekdays plus two 4-hour field studies.

Start Date:The course runs from May 27-June and onboarding are planned on an individual basis.

Most students enrolled in thePsychology of Criminal Behavior course studypsychology sociology or criminal justice at their North American university though disciplines might expand beyond this. Students are typically in their third year of university. Courses are all taught in English.

Pedagogical support training and mentorship is available at DIS through the Learning Lab and experienced faculty; faculty are encouraged to collaborate with academic support staff in various professional development opportunities.
