Job Summary

As a Shift Engineer at Dublin Airport this individual possesses extensive training and hands-on expertise in supporting advanced electromechanical systems particularly within the non-intrusive detection sector. They are team-oriented adaptable and committed to sharing knowledge and supporting their colleagues. Strong communication skills both written and verbal enhance their ability to convey complex technical information clearly.

The role requires proficiency in troubleshooting repairing and maintaining electromechanical equipment. The engineer is expected to be cross-trained across all products within the companys portfolio to provide comprehensive service coverage at the airport. They are also willing to take on special projects including high-visibility tasks while actively seeking out and addressing recurring technical issues independently or in collaboration with others.

The Shift Engineer has solid knowledge of PC applications (such as MS Word Excel and PowerPoint) to produce clear concise reports and documentation. They are responsible for maintaining detailed service logs organizing job files and ensuring that all records are updated until projects are complete.

This role involves extensive troubleshooting servicing and installation of equipment on-site at Dublin/Cork Airport. The engineer also conducts follow-up checks with stakeholders to confirm system performance demonstrating a proactive approach to customer satisfaction and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities for Shift Engineer at Dublin Airport:

  • Service & Customer Satisfaction: Ensure timely response to daily service repair needs aiming to maximize customer satisfaction by resolving issues efficiently.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Perform installation repair and maintenance of equipment on-site and provide hands-on training to customers as needed.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all inspections maintenance and repairs ensuring that records are updated and submitted promptly.
  • Parts Management: Manage the entire parts lifecycle from ordering to installation and returns while optimizing repair cycle times.
  • Issue Tracking & Reports: Regularly review service logs to identify open issues and prepare detailed reports for customers as necessary.
  • Sales Support & Revenue Generation: Engage in service sales opportunities contributing to the promotion and implementation of revenue-enhancing programs.
  • Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and testing equipment are properly maintained calibrated and ready for use.
  • Performance Analysis & Recommendations: Assess equipment performance using field data to recommend improvements or modifications for optimal operation.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration: Provide technical assistance to customers and fellow service engineers when required. Work closely with senior FSEs and Product Specialists to stay updated on current technologies and solutions.
  • Special Projects & Site Surveys: Participate in site surveys pilot programs and special projects. Attend meetings as required and prepare exclusive reports on project outcomes.
  • Cost Control & Efficiency: Implement cost-saving measures and optimize operational efficiency wherever possible.
  • Travel & Flexibility: Be prepared for travel overtime and flexible working hours including weekends to meet operational demands.
  • Health Safety and Compliance: Adhere to and enforce company health safety and environmental policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Continuous Learning & Adaptability: Maintain a high level of technical expertise on the companys products and adapt to changing technical requirements.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Carry out other duties as required to support the team and ensure smooth airport operations.

Planning and Decision Making:

  • Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to and carried out on time
  • Provide on-site resolution of technical issues.

Qualifications :

Technical Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Associated degree ONC HNC or equivalent technical training or related experience is required.
  • Equivalence achieved through comparative work and life experience is acceptable.
  • Experience with mechanical and Air- conditioning Systems desirable
  • Experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Computer literacy competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software installation and programs.
  • Use of metrology and handheld tools
  • Experience in troubleshooting field repair or technical support activities centred on Electrical and Mechanical systems and equipment is desirable
  • Has a working knowledge of PC applications (MS Applications SAP and Reporting tools) to provide clear concise information summaries as required.
